Madison, Wisconsin

I'm back from Madison, WI. I had a good time, and it was very relaxing. We looked at a lot of art galleries, used book stores and checked out the art museum there.

Here is my mother having fun being in front of the camera:

My parents rent a nice little "get away" apartment in Madison. It's a one bedroom; small, but all that they need. You see that bundle of blankets? When rolled out, that was my "bed":

My parents and I sat along the lake and had a beer:

I took the bus home, writing/drawing in my journal and listening to my iPod. The ride was four hours long but it was comfortable and I got to watch the fields go by. It was kind of nice.

For the most part I had an excellent time in Madison with my parents. There was only one moment that gave me pause. It was on my first night there when my dad announced at 9pm that it was getting close to Bed Time. I said "really?" and he nodded. I then asked "What time do you get up in the morning?" and my dad responded, "between 4:30 and 5am."

(!?!?!?! WTFOMG)

So aside from having to be up each morning before the farmers, it was a really great time.

It is very warm here in Chicago this morning. I got up at 7am to bake a coffee cake because I didn't want to have the oven on later when the heat gets worse, but even so the butter was too soft to make a decent streusel topping. It turned out all gooey and melted.

stupid heatwave screwing up my baking Grrr
Oh well. I'm going to go harness the sun's power and make some sun tea.
