This is the piece I've been working on.
It's not finished and I don't love it yet, but I'm at least able to look at it without wanting to throw up now. It's been a struggle, and a lot of things that I've tried have sucked and failed hard, but I've been learning along the way.
I'm cleaning now. Every room is a separate small disaster area that needs to be dealt with. I've done two loads of laundry and am gearing up to do a third. It feels good to be setting things right.
Friday night I went out to see a band and then didn't get home until 8:30 the following morning, at which point I crashed. It was massive fun, but I didn't get up on Saturday until 8:30pm, and then by 2am fell back into bed. Today I'm fully recovered, but am left with the feeling that I need to take a million baths, fast for a thousand days, do some gardening and never drink a beer again. You know what I mean.
