Injury

Neo was fun last night.

Too bad I closed the cab door on my thumb on my way there (not exactly sure how I managed to do that). It immediately turned purple and swelled so that I could not bend it; I was shaking, too (from shock I suppose? I shook a lot when I fractured my pelvis, too). I held my ice cold beer in my left hand and eventually the swelling went down and I stopped shaking. The beer helped numb me, too. And after about an hour I'd forgotten all about it.



Today it's still a little swollen and bruised, but I think it will be okay - it doesn't feel broken.



I'm baking bread. Fresh bread on a Saturday morning is an awesome thing.

The State of the Painting

I did some work on the gears this evening. Next task: refine the cooling tower and add the radio tower. This painting has come a LONG way – it started out looking like this:



The only things that haven't been majorly modified are the shield and the smoke-stack/rider. Everything else has been changed and refined. The original concept has remained the same, but it's hardly the same painting.

The original is a mess. The horse has an extra joint in it's front leg, for crissakes. When people talk about Talent I tend to roll my eyes. Talent has nothing to do with it. PERSISTANCE is the real key – persistence and an ability to learn from your mistakes.
