Almost there
Jan. 9th, 2008 10:50 pmI've been working on the painting in the evenings this week and I'm almost done with it:
I just need to spruce up the church and the yellow buildings behind the yellow van.
On Sunday O said he didn't think I ought to leave the painting so unfinished. He was under the impression that I was going to paint EVERYTHING.
To see EVERYTHING, you can reference the photograph I am working from:

So yeah. I left a lot of stuff out.
"You need to add the cobbles. And the lamp posts. And the signs back there and the words on the wall."
But I think the piece suffers from too much detail as it is, and I don't feel like torturing myself by adding every detail. I have a photograph already, thanks! While the painting may reference a real place, the piece is really more about the colors and how they play off of each other. I reduced the image to basic color fields, left out the noise, and that's what I painted.
I might add the dude's license plate number, though. Just because.
