Boobless skeleton

Seriously, this model is making me NOT want to buy these clothes. She should seek another line of work.

The new painting

The new painting is different. Rather than being a simple series of color layers, this one is going to have several "floors" that contain "paintings". I'm masking out portions as I go so that the final piece will have patches of each "floor" showing through, but this won't be apparent until the end. The over-arching idea is "paintings within paintings". The challenge in making a painting like this is that I can't actually see what I'm doing until the very end when the floors are ripped open and everything is revealed; until then it's a juggling act in my mind, trying to remember where everything is below the surface.

The first floor, as you can see, is yellow and black. I'm thinking the second floor will be red and blue-grey. We'll see. For now it's buried under a layer of silver paint and paper strips.

A confession

Several years ago a friend of mine loaned me a digital camera because at that time I had no camera. I played around with it, trying to figure out how it worked, but because there was no manual I had trouble figuring out even the most basic stuff. I finally figured out how to take a few pictures - of myself, reflected in a mirror. Thing was, I was totally naked, and I couldn't figure out how to erase the photos.

A couple months later my friend asked if he could have the camera back, and having completely forgotten about the un-erased contents, I happily handed it back.

Well, he never mentioned anything about it, and I've always been far too embarrassed to ask. heh
