Well, the pigeon made it through the night and is still going strong.

Believe it or not, the head wound is actually not as large today as it was yesterday, too. I've been keeping it clean with saline solution and putting antibiotic cream on it every now and then, trying to keep it from drying out. The bandage was not appreciated _at all_ by the bird and it was removed pretty much immediately, so we're just going to have to do this sans Band-Aid.

I worry about the broken wing, though. Nothing was open today and the places I called only had answering machines, so I was unable to source any vet tape. I'm hoping to get some tomorrow, but even so, it will be more than 24 hours after the break occurred, which isn't good, and there's a greater chance that the wing won't heal correctly. If the bird can't regain it's flight ability it can't be re-introduced into the wild. Or I suppose it could be, but I might as well stick some parsley in it's mouth and rub it with butter before I set it outside for the neighborhood wildlife.

I don't mind keeping it as a pet if it can't survive on it's own, but I'm going to do my best to fix it's wing – it will be a much happier animal if it can fly.
